To get from one desert oasis to another
one is not at all what a trip in the Egypt desert really mean.
It is about adventure, exploring, discovering so many unique and
interesting things, seeing amazing landscapes. Every oasis of
the desert has its extraordinary attractions, and more, there
are numerous things to see between these oases. For example, if
you plan a trip to the Farafra oasis you will first have to see
the Baharyia oasis and this place is so beautiful that you will
hardly want to leave it. At a small distance from the Baharyia
is situated a place called Al-Haiz, which in fact is a group of
hamlets and farms, with a generator that provides electricity
and without any telephone. It is somehow a rustic place, with a
paved road that leads to it. The Baharyia Depression surrounds
that place that in the Roman period used to have a large number
of inhabitants. It seems there are numerous antiquities
undiscovered yet. One of the Al-Haiz attractions is the Saint
George's Church, dating from the 5th century. The ruins of the
Roman fortress Qasr Masada are also one of this place’s
attractions., where you can see so many shards of pottery with
clay that have different colors: red, orange, pink, grey. And if
you go from there to the Farafra oasis, you will meet the
Crystal Mountain, the visitors favorite plays for taking photos.
The Crystal Mountain is a huge formation made from quartz
crystals, with a big whole like an arch inside of it. There are
many crystals on the ground, if you want to take some of them
with you as souvenirs or as a gift for your friends, so it is
not indicated to tear off the crystal from the rock. |
