The endless White Desert is the
Farafra`s principal attraction, geographically speaking. The
endless White Desert is also called Sahara el Beyda and is
situated at 45 kilometers from Farafra`s North. The name of the
desert is given by the huge rock formations of chalk which are
the result of the area’s sandstorms. The amazing silhouettes and
shapes that can be seen in this desert were created by the water
and wind erosions of the chalk. Located in the Egypt’s West, the
White Desert can be easily mistaken with an landscape from
Antarctica; the hot temperature reminds us that is a desert. The
strange formations of the desert, the immense rocks, the strait
pillars are so amazing that you can not believe that they are
real. The Bedouins call the desert Wadi Gazar, or Carrots`
Valley. With its unusual sculptures that are surrounded by fine
and golden sand the White Desert is something really unique for
the Sahara`s Desert. A trip to the endless White Desert is
something magical; you can visit it by car or by a camel, you
can camp in desert, sleep under the open air with its beautiful
stars! Everything will be an adventure that can not be
forgotten! The people who had the chance of camping in desert a
week or less said that they had the time of their life in the
beautiful and silent White Desert. The rare experience is really
difficult to be described in words so you just have to live it!
Spending the night in the desert will give you the possibility
of hearing your ears` noise since no other sound can be heard. A
truly disconnection from the modern world that will relax you
and give you the impression of being in another world. |
