Siwa is an oases in Egypt with
23. 000 people and with almost 1.000 spring famous for their
medical properties. The oases is popular for its olives and
dates; there are about 70.000 olive trees in Siwa and about
300.000 date trees. The Siwans are the people of Siwa; they
speak Siwi, a Berber language and they have their own customs
and culture. The Siwans have a festival that takes place in
October and lasts three days. Among the Siwa's traditions is the
wearing of the silver jewelry and traditional costumes as well
as the marriage of the girls at the age of 14. They are not very
communicative with the strangers and they are completely covered
by clothes. These costumes and jewelry can be seen in the
Traditional Siwan House museum. Siwa is the place where you can
find things that are unique in Egypt, such as woven cloth. The
climate in this beautiful place of Egypt is a nice one, with hot
summers, chilly winters and moderate springs and autumns. In the
town` s west is the lake Siwa, a large lake with salt water. If
you want to get to Siwa from outside Egypt you have to take an
international flight for Cairo; then you can choose from an
internal flight, a car or a bus that will take you to Siwa. If
you are in Alexandria you can go to Siwa by train, by bus or by
plane. Or you got to a travel agency for a whole tour that
includes Siwa. You have to be careful about the type of car you
use for the desert driving and to hire a guide who knows the
area` s dangers. Or you can visit each location by taxi, by car
