Karnak is the site not to miss
when someone is visiting Egypt, it is gathering of ruins on the
site with temples, chapels, pylons and a sacred lake. The site
is normally called Karnak Temple Complex but most of the time
called only Karnak, the site located near Luxor and el-Karnak.
It was called by the ancient Egyptian Ipet Isut. The main and
most visited temple is the Great Temple of Karnak other main
part of the site are the precinct of Montu, precinct of Mu, the
temple of Amenhotep IV. In the Great Temple of Amun can be seen
the hypostyle architure which are roofs which are held only by
pylons or columns without the need of arches. The hypostyle
architecture is found in temples or palaces usually. It is
thought that the hypostyle hall was constructed during the
eighteenth dynasty. The ruins of Karnak is considered to be the
second most visited place in Egypt to Giza where is found the
Great Sphinx of Giza and its pyramids. Cairo is the capital city
of Egypt is quite modernized in some places with luxury hotels. |
