Although is
one of the most beautiful countries in the world, situated
in the North-East of the black continent, Egypt continues to
be one of the most dangerous tourist destinations. In the
latest years, in Egypt happened some terrorist attacks,
especially in Cairo and in the resorts of Sinai Peninsula.
The Egypt
terrorism is the most of the times a protest form to the
moderate position had by govern in the relations with
Israel, the alliance with the United States and the
repressions of the political and religious organizations, as
well as the Muslim Brotherhood. |

One of the
terrorists target was Luxor and the temples from its
vicinity, like Karnak, the Valley of the Kings or the Valley
of the Queens, on November 17, 1997, in Luxor vicinity
a massacre happened. It was produced in Deir el-Bahri, an
archeological site, notable for the spectacular memorial
temple of Hatshepsut, the 5th pharaoh of the 18th dynasty.
62 tourists were killed by the terrorists belonging to the
Islamic Group and Jihad Talaat al-Fath, which were disguised
in security forces.
Egypt has Israel as
its neighbor and it owns a part of the Sinai Peninsula.
Going to Egypt the Sinai Mountain can be visited, the place
where God spoke to Moses. But, here, in 2004, 3 bomb attacks
took place at the peninsula` s hotels. In the October 7
attacks 34 people were killed and other 171 had injuries.
The biggest attack happened at the Hilton hotel in Taba,
where 31 people died and 159 were hurt, 10 levels of the
hotel being destroyed as a result of the explosion.
Other two bombs
exploded in the camps used by Israel from Ras al-Shitan,
close to Nuweiba. A car parked in front of the Moon Island
complex` s restaurant exploded, taking the lives of 3
Israelis and of one Bedouin. 12 people were injured. Other
explosion took place later, in the Baddiyah camp, where
fortunately were not victims, after the attacker was scared
by the guardians. The 2005 Sharm el-Sheikh attacks were a
series of bomb attacks happened on 23 July and having as
target the tourist city from the South of Sinai Peninsula.
88 persons were killed and other 150 were injured after the
explosions, making the attack the most deadly terrorist
action from the country`s history.
The explosions were
coincidental with the Revolution Day in Egypt. The attack
was claimed by the Abdullah Azzam brigade who sustained to
have connections with the Al-Qaeda. The last important
attack happened in 2006, on April 24, in the tourist city
Dahab. Several bombs with clock exploded, one of them inside
or close to the restaurant Nelson. At least 23 people were
killed, the most of them Egyptians, but among the victims
were also a German, a Lebanese, a Russian, an Swiss and a
Hungarian. About 80 people were injured, including tourists
from Australia, France, Germany, Israel, South Korea,
Lebanon, Great Britain, Denmark and USA.
