The Egypt is
one of the countries that attract a lot of tourists who
wants to learn about its pyramids, pharaohs, gods and
goddesses.
Egypt make everyone curious, mainly how where the
pyramids constructed, how the ancient Egyptians lived.
The Egyptians
from the ancient time believed a lot in gods and goddesses.
Here a list of some of the god and goddesses who were
worshipped in Egypt.
God Amun
The god Amun was considered as the king of Gods and was one
of the most worshipped gods in ancient Egypt. He was
symbolised as a man with a ram head and wearing a plumed
hat. In Thebes was built a temple in honour of the God Amun.
The ruin of the great temple of Amun is still to be seen in
the complex of Karnak.

God Anubis
Anubis was the god who was known helping to embalm Osiris
after having been killed by Seth.
God Anubis appeared as a
man with a jackal head. In Egypt Anubis was considered as
the god of the dead and embalming.
Anubis watched over the
mummifying process of persons when they were dead. His
symbol is probably because jackals were seen very often in
cemeteries.
God Aten
Aten was known as the “king” of the gods during the
reign of Akhenaten. The God of Aten appears as a sun
disk with rays and ends in hands. |

God Atum
In ancient Egypt it was believed that Atum was the
first god that existed on earth and was called the
creator god. Atum is also called “The All” or
“Perfection” and appeared as a man with the double
crown.
Goddess Bastet
The goddess Bastet was known as a protective
goddess. She appears as a woman with a cat’s head.
The symbol of the goddess Bastet was the cat; she
was daughter of the sun god. At Bubastis in Delta a
temple was built in her honour. Sometimes the
goddess appeared with a lioness head to protect the
king in battle.
God Bes
The god Bes was known as the protector of women who were
pregnant, the family and newborn babies. In ancient Egypt it
was also believed that the god Bes protected against
scorpion and snake bites. Bes appears a dwarf with lion and

God Geb
The god Geb is known as the god of earth. God Geb was the
brother and husband of the goddess of sky Nut.Geb was the
father of Seth, Nepthys, Osiris and Isis. God Geb appears as
a man lying under the arch of sky who is goddess Nut or also
with a goose on his head.
God Hapy
For the ancient Egyptians, God Hapy was quite important
because he brought every year the flood. The flood allowed
the Egyptians to grow plants because it deposited rich silt
on the Nile’s bank. Hapy was called the god of the
inundation. Hapy appears as a man with a pot belly with
water plants.
