Life in Cairo is undoubtedly a fascinating
one. Viewed from the airplane, Egypt’s capital is crowed city,
full of animation, a true modern oasis rising from the middle of
the desert. It is impossible to remain immune to the people’s
vitality, especially to the one of the merchants, that give you
the impression of the medieval times, and which, through a
secret miracle, cohabit with the modern and cosmopolitan
influence of the important Arab, European and African
businessman. Visiting the Cairo bazaars you will see that
negotiation is an obligation and a tradition. There is no bigger
offence for a Cairo merchant like buying something at the
initial price. Their anger can not be described by words, and
negotiation is not useless since the prices may come down very
much. And if Cairo life made you hungry, you can eat something
special, the traditional Koshray, an old recipe of spaghetti,
vegetables, rice, with garlic sauce and tomatoes spicy sauce,
all of these covered with toasted onion. If you want to relax
from the agitated life in Cairo, you can go to the famous
Pyramids, travel from the Pyramids of Giza to the Saqqara on a
horse, enjoy the Nile from a felucca, see the Cairo’s Botanical
and Zoo gardens, go to Gezira Club for horse racing, or watch
the city’s view from the Cairo Tower. Life in Cairo is even more
exciting at night, the perfect time for shopping, for spoiling
yourself with the traditional cuisine, for seeing cabarets and
oriental dancers in the fancy hotels or for enjoying a dinner in
one of the Nile’s floating restaurants. The complex of amazing
Cairo Opera House offers numerous galleries, a museum of modern
art, concert halls, a open-air theatre where you can listen the
Arabic music having the sky`s stars as companions. |
