The unification of the Lower Egypt with
the Upper Egypt by the first Egyptian pharaoh, around 3150 BC,
represents the beginning of the ancient Egypt's history. A
history characterized by an incredible longevity that lasted
more than three millennia. The stable periods in the ancient
Egypt are called kingdoms, and the unstable ones, the
intermediate periods.
Since the ancient Egypt was born on the Nile River Valley, the
country had to suit to the climate conditions offered by Nile.
The Valley was fertile and also had controlled irrigations,
which helped the ancient Egyptians to obtain rich harvests and
to develop their social and cultural life. The mineral
exploitation was financed by the administration, an independent
system of writing developed, as well as the strengthening of the
army who defended the country against the enemies. All the
country's activities were coordinated by administrators,
religious leaders and scribes. The supreme authority was
represented by a divine pharaoh. The unity of the ancient
Egyptians was ensured by the pharaoh trough a religious beliefs
system.
The achievements of the ancient Egypt are numerous and very
significant: a very practical medicine system, a mathematics
system, the technology of glass and faience, the quarrying,
techniques of the agricultural production, systems of
irrigations, the techniques which represented the basis of the
pyramids construction, as well as the techniques of the obelisks
and temples construction, the literature's new forms. From the
ancient Egypt dates the earliest treaty of peace.
The legacy left by the ancient Egypt is not only lasting but
also fascinating, even if we only refer to the architecture and
the art that are still alive, or the antiquities that attracts
thousands of visitors from the entire world. The civilization of
the ancient Egypt is also the source of inspiration for numerous
writers and script writers. |
